P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education (PCE)
The P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education (PCE) provides need-based grants to women in the United States or Canada whose education has been interrupted and who find it necessary to return to school to support themselves and/or their families. All applicants are sponsored by a local P.E.O. chapter. PCE provides one-time grants with a maximum award of $4,000. Grants may be awarded for academic or technical courses, including online programs offered by educational institutions in the United States or Canada. The grant can cover education related expenses such as tuition, books, supplies, testing and graduation fees, transportation (estimated cost of gas, parking and local bus fare), childcare (only while in class or studying), uniforms required by the educational program, and equipment/tools necessary for the course of study. The program is specifically designed for women who have had at least 24 consecutive months as a non-student sometime in their adult life, have begun their educational program if the course of study is more than one term, are within 18 consecutive months of completing their educational program, and are enrolled in an education program which, once concluded, will lead to employment or job advancement.
International Peace Scholarship (IPS) Fund
The International Peace Scholarship (IPS) Fund provides scholarships for international women students to pursue graduate study in the United States or Canada. The scholarship is based upon demonstrated need and supports women who will return to their home countries to utilize their education to make a positive impact and foster global peace. Awards are made to international students who are enrolled and in residence at accredited colleges or universities in the U.S. or Canada for a full academic year, with at least one full year of formal coursework remaining. The scholarship is not intended to cover all academic or personal expenses, and applicants must demonstrate additional financial resources to meet estimated expenses through personal and family funds, tuition waivers, work, teaching assistantships, study grants, and other scholarships. Announcement of awards is made in May, with an eligibility period from September 15 to December 15.
