The Joe Chowaniec Scholarship

The Joe Chowaniec Scholarship recognizes over 30 years of dedication by Mr. Joe Chowaniec to the Environmental Services Association of Alberta (ESAA). In his honor, ESAA presents two scholarships annually to students enrolled in environmental programs at Alberta Universities or Colleges. The scholarship program awards financial support to full-time students entering their first, second, third, or fourth year, as well as graduate students, in Environmental Programs at recognized institutions in Alberta. The program aims to recognize exceptional academic achievement and encourage students to join Environmental Studies. Two scholarships are available: one for $2,500 for ESAA Members and their family members, and one for $1,500 for non-ESAA members. Recipients also receive additional benefits including a 1-day pass for RemTech conference and a 1-night stay in Banff. The scholarship emphasizes community involvement with non-profit organizations and requires applicants to demonstrate leadership initiatives, community service, and academic excellence.
