It is dedicated to the development of scientific collaborations between Canada and India, bringing together researchers, industry leaders, community members, and government officials to find solutions to key challenges affecting quality of life in both nations. IC-IMPACTS focuses on four main sectors: Integrated Water Management, Safe and Sustainable Infrastructure, Public Health, and Food Security.
Funding Opportunities
IC-IMPACTS Innovative Technology Demonstration Projects
IC-IMPACTS continues to accept proposals under the Innovative Technology Demonstration Call, seeking proposals relevant to IC-IMPACTS themes including Safe and Sustainable Infrastructure, Integrated Water Management, Public Health, and Food Security. The program encourages the transfer of existing research and technology to communities, aiming to improve the health, safety, and prosperity of Indian and Canadian communities through the introduction of new technologies. The call focuses on deployment-ready stage projects that demonstrate technology adaptation, validation in community contexts, and proof of scalability and transferability to different settings. Symmetrical projects that take technology to the partner country are of particular interest, whether first demonstrated in Canada then in India or vice versa. Projects should be tailored to meet the needs of the market to ensure successful uptake.
HQP Leadership Awards
The HQP (Highly Qualified Personnel) Leadership Awards are dedicated to supporting students and postdoctoral fellows in achieving strategic goals, such as developing a research or industry partnership or running a university-level course. The awards offer HQPs the opportunity to design, manage, and lead workshops, short conferences, or projects that facilitate the achievement of their strategic goals in areas related to their research program and aligned with building Canada-India research collaborations. IC-IMPACTS provides up to $15,000 to selected applications for projects in areas including safe and sustainable infrastructure, public health, integrated water management, commercialization initiatives, and other emerging areas. Projects need to reflect principles of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion to ensure that everyone is encouraged to participate, both as speakers and as participants. The proposed workshop, short conference, or project provides an opportunity for student leadership and should be inclusive of students from Canada and India, demonstrating how it adds value to the skills of undergraduate and graduate students.
