Mountain Training Cymru Bursary Scheme
The Mountain Training Cymru Bursary Scheme provides financial support to candidates in Wales who face barriers to participating in Mountain Training skills schemes or leadership award training and assessment courses. The bursary is specifically designed to increase participation from within underrepresented communities, such as those from ethnically diverse backgrounds. Each year, Mountain Training Cymru offers a limited number of bursaries to support candidates wishing to undertake skills scheme training or assessment courses, including reassessments, in a Mountain Training qualification scheme. The bursary can fund up to 50% of the course cost, to a maximum of £200, for courses taking place in Wales with an MTC approved provider. Note: The program is currently unavailable due to financial constraints.
Mountain Training England Skills and Training Fund
The Mountain Training England Skills and Training Fund supports people from ethnically diverse backgrounds who face barriers to participation and are significantly under-represented and less engaged with Mountain Training qualifications and skills courses. The fund aims to empower more independent walkers and climbers from these groups into leadership roles, promoting a diverse and active outdoor society supported by inspirational leaders, instructors and coaches. The fund helps people who are in need of support to gain skills and qualification training and assessment by part-funding the cost of courses. Applicants can apply for up to 50% of the median course cost for various Mountain Training qualifications including climbing, walking, and leadership courses. The funding covers course costs but does not include registration fees, first aid courses, travel, accommodation, food costs, or climbing wall entry fees.
