BMI Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded in 1985 dedicated to encouraging the creation, performance, and study of music. The Foundation supports music creators and nonprofit organizations through awards, scholarships, grants, and commissions. As a 501(c)3 corporation with its own independent Board of Trustees, BMI Foundation was started by employees of BMI in 1984 and continues to receive significant support from BMI to honor their shared mission of supporting music creators. BMI Foundation offers a variety of programs to support individual artists and music creators, including programs by application and by invitation. The Foundation also provides New Music Grants for nonprofit organizations committed to furthering the creation, performance, and study of contemporary music. BMI Foundation is committed to creating an inclusive applicant process and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or veteran status.
