Pat Kelly Enviroschools Action Fund

Horizons Environmental Education Grant

The Horizons Environmental Education Grant supports schools and Early Childhood Education (ECE) centres in the Horizons Region that have engaged with Horizons Environmental Education provision within the last 12 months. Eligible activities include borrowing environmental education kits, attending education sessions, hui or workshops provided by Horizons staff members, or participating in teacher professional development events. The grant is specifically designed for institutions that are not part of the Enviroschools Programme. The funds can be used towards materials or contractors to complete environmental education projects at the school or ECE centre level.

Environmental Education Transport Fund

The Environmental Education Transport Fund supports schools and Early Childhood Education (ECE) Centres in the Horizons Region who are taking field trips to iconic environmental education sites. The fund provides financial assistance for transportation costs to help students access hands-on learning experiences at important natural and conservation areas. Eligible destinations include the Manawatū Estuary, Te Āpiti – Manawatū Gorge, Tōtara Reserve Regional Park, Pūkaha National Wildlife Centre, Otorohanga Kiwi House, Bushy Park Tarapuruhi, and Central Energy Trust Wildbase Recovery Centre. The program aims to remove financial barriers to environmental education by subsidizing transport costs, making it easier for educational institutions to provide students with meaningful outdoor learning experiences.
