James C. Ray Flight Training Scholarship

The James C. Ray Flight Training Scholarship is administered by the Central Florida Aerospace Academy Foundation, Inc. (CFAAF) to support individuals pursuing careers in aviation. This scholarship was established to honor James C. Ray, a World War II B-17 command pilot who believed that the disciplines obtained during flight training helped him become a successful individual. The scholarship provides financial support specifically for students pursuing their Private Pilot's License. Mr. Ray hoped that young people would benefit from the positive, life-changing opportunities that flight training presents, helping to develop the self-discipline and self-confidence needed to become stronger, more successful individuals. The scholarship is designed to support Polk County public and private high school students and equivalent home-schooled students residing in Polk County, Florida. Applications are accepted three times per year with rolling award cycles, and the scholarship covers flight training costs at participating flight training schools in the county.
