The New Allotment Site Fund

Green Allotments is funding the creation of new allotment sites in England through The New Allotment Site Fund. The fund offers up to £50,000 per acre for the purchase of land to establish new community allotment sites. This initiative is designed for individuals who are passionate about allotments and willing to collaborate with Green Allotments to create new sites in their area. The fund focuses on community-led management and environmental stewardship to ensure a sustainable future for allotments. Green Allotments, operating as a charity on a not-for-profit basis, will purchase the land and retain ownership of the new allotment sites to protect them for the future. The fund aims to create as many new private allotment sites as possible across England. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis with no current deadline. The application process is deliberately informal and accessible - there is no application form to complete. Applicants simply need to contact the organization through their preferred method (email, social media, or other channels) and provide basic information about themselves, the land they have identified, and why it would make a good allotment site. The fund is open to permanent residents of England aged 18 and over who are passionate about allotments. It explicitly excludes councils and statutory organizations. The fund is specifically for creating entire new allotment sites, not for community plots or gardens already located on existing allotment sites.
