1949 Chemical Engineers' Dr George W Govier Award

The 1949 Chemical Engineers' Dr George W Govier Award is an annual scholarship established to support students in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Alberta. The award recognizes students with satisfactory academic standing who are pursuing an undergraduate degree in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering. Recipients are selected primarily on the basis of academic standing, with preference given to students who demonstrate financial need. The award was endowed by the Chemical Engineering Class of 1949 in honour of Dr George W Govier, who as a teacher, mentor, and practitioner, played a major role in the development of the petrochemical industry in Alberta, and in memory of all classmates from that graduating class.
