2025 Tertiary Access Payment (TAP Program)

The Tertiary Access Payment (TAP) Program has been developed by the Australian Government to assist school leavers from regional and remote areas who relocate from their home to undertake full-time, higher level tertiary education (Certificate IV or above) in the year following Year 12 or equivalent. This payment is administered by Services Australia and provides financial assistance to eligible students who need to move away from home to pursue their tertiary education. The payment helps offset the costs associated with relocating to study, making higher education more accessible to students from regional and remote areas of Australia. The payment is specifically designed for students who complete Year 12 in 2024 and intend to commence studies in 2025. To be eligible, students must be Australian residents from inner regional, outer regional, remote or very remote areas who relocate to study at a location at least 90 minutes by public transport from their family home. Students must be undertaking at least 75% of a full-time study load in a Certificate IV or above qualification with a minimum duration of one year. The payment amount varies depending on the location of the family home. This scholarship requires that students be 22 years of age or under at the time of course commencement and have parents or guardians whose combined income is under $250,000. The TAP is not considered income for social security purposes and does not affect eligibility for other income support. Students completing an apprenticeship who leave school before completing Year 12 are not eligible for this payment.
