About This Opportunity

This funding opportunity supports large team-based fundamental bioscience research projects that push the frontiers of human knowledge. Projects must demonstrate potential for major breakthroughs in fundamental understanding of living systems, employ a fully integrated team science approach, justify the need for this scale of funding, and enhance the capability and capacity of UK biosciences. The research must be grounded in frontier bioscience - discovery research that pushes the limits of human knowledge and has potential to lead to major breakthroughs in fundamental understanding of living systems. Projects are expected to generate new fundamental biological knowledge of broad and long-term significance, changing how we think about bioscience and contributing to understanding of 'rules of life'.
