About This Opportunity

The Deadly Relocation/Accommodation Costs Scholarship (ICACS) aims to improve higher education access for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, particularly for those who need to relocate from regional and remote areas in order to access study. The scholarship provides financial support to eligible Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students who have relocated or need to travel significant distances to attend Federation University. Students receive $3,500 in the first semester after census date and $2,500 each semester thereafter, with support available for up to 20 scholarship periods. This Commonwealth scholarship assists students enrolled in enabling, undergraduate, honours, or postgraduate courses who must travel more than 90 minutes or relocate at least 80 kilometers from their home address to attend university. Applicants must demonstrate low socio-economic status or financial hardship and cannot concurrently receive similar Commonwealth scholarships such as Start-Up Loans, Relocation Scholarships, or ABSTUDY Residential Costs Options from Centrelink.
