About this opportunity

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Environmental Management (EM) is seeking Scholars to engage in projects and activities related to EM's mission. EM's first priority is to ensure the safety and health of the public and EM's workforce while continuing to protect the environment. EM carries out the mission using sound business practices, innovative management approaches, and science and technology to reduce risks and costs within the EM regulatory framework. The Scholar will participate in learning and development opportunities, be actively mentored by EM staff, as well as receive additional support to effectively accomplish internship goals. Appointments may involve projects focused on engineering, science, research, technology, policy, and business. The DOE Scholars Program provides stipends starting at $700 per week for undergraduate students and $750 per week for graduate students and recent graduates. Travel reimbursement for inbound and outbound costs up to $1,000 is available for participants who live more than fifty miles (one-way) from the assigned hosting site.
