About this opportunity
The Minerals Research Institute of Western Australia (MRIWA) is a state government agency which provides funding into minerals research which delivers value to Western Australia. MRIWA offers a range of competitive scholarships to support exceptional candidates pursuing postgraduate research in any research topic relevant to the minerals industry in Western Australia. PhD scholarship recipients explore a range of topics from various disciplines, from investigating psychosocial capital in the mining workforce to decarbonisation in steelmaking.
The scholarship program includes four types of awards: the MRIWA Odwyn Jones PhD Scholarship (open to all applicants including domestic and international students, offered to the highest ranked PhD candidate), the MRIWA PhD Scholarship for Women (open to women PhD applicants), the MRIWA PhD Scholarship (open to all PhD applicants including domestic and international students), and the MRIWA Indigenous Postgraduate Research Scholarship (open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander postgraduate students).
Benefits include a generous stipend support of over $41,000 AUD per annum for up to three years of study with potential for extension, additional support of over $5,900 AUD for research and other expenses linked to studies, tailored training and professional development activities, and access to relevant mentoring and networking opportunities with leading innovators operating in the minerals industry. The scholarships are open to domestic and international students studying at any Western Australian university.
