About This Opportunity

The New Colombo Plan (NCP) is an initiative of the Australian Government which aims to lift knowledge of the Indo-Pacific in Australia and strengthen people-to-people and institutional relationships through long-term study, language training, and internships undertaken by Australian undergraduate students in the region. The NCP Scholarship Program provides up to 19 months of overseas study, including one or two semester exchange or study abroad, internship, and language training in the applicant's choice of destination. Students are strongly encouraged to undertake language training. The scholarship covers travel, establishment, monthly allowances, mental health support, health and travel insurance, language training fees, and may include international tuition fees for independent study abroad students. The program must be undertaken in eligible Indo-Pacific locations including countries such as Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and many Pacific Island nations. NCP Fellows (the top-ranked scholar in each location) receive an additional $1,000 for study materials.
