About This Opportunity

The MMA Offshore Hydrographic Surveying Scholarship is designed to support and encourage students in their studies and to promote a career in the field of Hydrographic Surveying whilst also publicising the activities of the industry with the aim of addressing a shortage of skilled personnel. The scholarship is offered by Cyan Renewables (formerly MMA Offshore), which specialises in providing high-specification vessels and a comprehensive suite of marine and subsea services to the offshore energy sector and wider maritime industries. The scholarship provides financial support for up to two years with a total value up to $10,000, paid as a cash stipend of $2,500 per semester. Recipients must be domestic students (Australian or New Zealand citizens, Australian permanent residents or holders of Permanent Humanitarian visas) enrolled full-time in the 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of the Bachelor of Surveying (Honours) program at Curtin University. Beyond financial support, the scholarship offers guaranteed paid vacation work with MMA Offshore, mentoring opportunities, site visit opportunities, workshop and events participation, and potential employment opportunities after graduation. Applicants must have a minimum course weighted average of 60 and demonstrate passion and vision for a career in the field of Hydrographic Surveying. The scholarship is merit-based and selection criteria include academic merit, responses to application questions, work experience or non-academic achievements (extracurricular and leadership), and interview performance for shortlisted applicants. The possibility of an additional year of support for a 2nd year student may be considered, subject to review by MMA Offshore.
