About this opportunity
The 23 Foundation was established by Jamie Carragher, Liverpool FC's number 23, with the Community Foundation for Merseyside at the beginning of 2009, funded by proceeds from his charitable Testimonial match and matched government funds. The Foundation seeks to provide young people with the means to make a difference in society by giving them an outlet through sport and education. Projects should tackle the cause of youth disadvantage and provide information, education and skills to empower young people to go on to further education or employment. The fund also supports projects that improve children and young people's health. For summer 2025, the fund prioritizes youth group summer holiday projects with a focus on sports and education, with budgets allocated to feed young people alongside activities to help relieve financial pressures on families. The fund also considers applications addressing homelessness and real poverty, such as food banks. Examples of fundable projects include equipment for youth clubs, coaching sessions, training for young people, skills development, mentoring projects, sports activities and equipment, foodbanks, support for rough sleepers, and projects helping homeless individuals improve their lives.
