About this opportunity
The Chicago Center for Contemporary Theory (3CT) invites University of Chicago graduate students to apply for grants of up to $1,000 to support work that reflects 3CT's commitment to theorizing the present. The fund aims to support projects that add to the intellectual life of 3CT, that might have difficulty accessing funding elsewhere, and/or for which 3CT's grant would make a significant contribution to the budget. Priority will be given to students who are engaged with the center's activity (e.g., attending events or taking classes) and those who have not previously received a 3CT Graduate Fund award.
This opportunity is open to students who will be enrolled at the University of Chicago in a graduate program during the 2025–26 academic year. Expenses must be incurred between July 1, 2025, and May 15, 2026. Funds may be used for activities such as collaborative, interdisciplinary initiatives involving other students (reading groups, study groups, teach-ins), conference travel and fees, and research-related costs including travel, transcription, translation or duplication fees, and purchase of books or software.
Applications should include a description of the project and how it engages with questions of contemporary theory (maximum two single-spaced pages), a budget including details of other funding (confirmed or pending), and a CV. Events such as lectures, conferences, and screenings are unlikely to be supported by this fund; co-sponsorship opportunities may be available for such activities.
