About This Opportunity

The 3M National Student Fellowship recognizes outstanding undergraduate students who demonstrate exceptional leadership and innovation in transforming post-secondary education and society. The fellowship is awarded through the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE) in partnership with 3M Canada. This prestigious award celebrates students who have led significant transformation at institutional, disciplinary, community, or societal levels while fostering a more inclusive, equitable, and diverse post-secondary education landscape. The fellowship provides comprehensive recognition and support including $2,000 in discretionary funding, full conference participation at the annual STLHE conference in June with all travel and accommodation expenses covered, and two years of STLHE membership. Recipients receive wide recognition through STLHE and 3M Canada social media channels and partnering media outlets such as Maclean's and University Affairs. The University of Saskatchewan 3M National Student Fellowship Working Group coordinates the institutional nomination process and supports up to two qualified applicants annually to compete for this national award. The award emphasizes both leadership that drives meaningful change and innovation that introduces novel practices supporting students in post-secondary education. Applications are particularly encouraged from members of historically disadvantaged and marginalized groups including First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples, Indigenous peoples of North America, racialized persons, persons with disabilities, and those who identify as women and/or 2SLGBTQI.
