About this opportunity
The ABC Humane Wildlife Women In STEM Academic Scholarship is designed to increase the number of women studying and influencing the future of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Created by Urban Wildlife Manager Rebecca Fyffe, this scholarship recognizes the critical underrepresentation of women in STEM fields and aims to pave the way for women pursuing their dreams in the scientific world. The scholarship requires an essay response to the prompt: 'Why are you passionate about science, technology, engineering, or math, and how will your pursuit of these fields help preserve biodiversity, improve the health of our planet, or alleviate human suffering?' One award of $1,000 is granted to the top essay submitted, with up to nine additional students potentially receiving awards. The scholarship is open to undergraduate and graduate students who identify as female, enrolled in STEM fields at U.S. Department of Education-accredited universities.
