About This Opportunity

The AberCares Bursary provides financial and comprehensive support to UK-domiciled undergraduate students who have previously been in care, have caring responsibilities, are refugees, or have become estranged from families or guardians in their late teenage years. The bursary provides £1,250 per year paid in two equal instalments (December and March), plus a £500 graduation boost upon completion of studies. Beyond financial support, recipients receive guaranteed 52-week accommodation for each year of their course, a welcome pack with bedding and kitchen equipment plus £50 AberCard top-up, contextual admissions offers with lower entry requirements, travel cost reimbursement for open days, free platinum sports centre membership, and access to dedicated support services. Students can hold this bursary alongside other university scholarships and bursaries. Recipients also benefit from career readiness support, free legal advice services, postgraduate study discount of £1,000, and extensive wellbeing and accessibility services throughout their time at Aberystwyth University.
