About This Opportunity

Established in 2022 by the Faculty of Science at the University of Queensland, this scholarship supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students studying in the Faculty of Science. The scholarship is designed to assist students who can demonstrate financial hardship while pursuing coursework programs in science and mathematics fields. The scholarship provides financial support of $10,000 for one year to help Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students overcome financial barriers to their education. Two scholarships are awarded annually, with preference given to awarding one to an undergraduate student and one to a postgraduate coursework student. If there are no eligible postgraduate applicants, both scholarships can be awarded to undergraduate students. This scholarship is part of the broader Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Scholarship Scheme at UQ. Applicants need to submit only one application to be considered for all scholarships in the Aspire Scholarship scheme, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Scholarship scheme, and the UQ Residential Scholarship scheme. Selection is based on demonstrated financial hardship, personal qualities including leadership potential, academic ability, and other factors relevant to future academic success.
