About This Opportunity

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Undergraduate Psychology Scholarship is a $10,000 per annum award established to financially support Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students undertaking an undergraduate psychology degree at the University of Sydney. The scholarship is tenable for up to three years and is available to recent school leavers who have an unconditional offer of admission for full-time study in the Bachelor of Psychology or Bachelor of Psychology Honours degree within the Faculty of Science. The scholarship was donated by Lucy Firth to provide financial assistance to Indigenous students pursuing psychology education. Recipients receive $10,000 annually, paid in two equal instalments after the census date of each semester. The award is based on academic merit and a personal statement detailing the impact the scholarship would have on the student's ability to study at the University of Sydney. Preference may be given to students who reside in low socio-economic areas or are experiencing financial hardship. To continue receiving the scholarship, recipients must maintain a minimum Semester Average Mark (SAM) of 50 each semester and remain enrolled full-time in their eligible psychology degree, though part-time study may be approved on a pro-rata basis. The scholarship aims to increase Indigenous representation in psychology by removing financial barriers to education and supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students throughout their undergraduate studies at one of Australia's leading universities.
