About This Opportunity

The Accessible Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) Bursary provides financial support to Red Deer Polytechnic students engaged in practicum placements between September and December. This bursary is designed to support students from under-represented communities who are enrolled in specific programs including Bachelor of Science Nursing, Practical Nurse Diploma, Health Care Aide Diploma, Social Work Diploma, Bachelor of Education, Early Learning and Childcare Certificate/Diploma, or Educational Assistant Programs. Eligible students must be Canadian Citizens, Permanent Residents, or Refugees and identify as belonging to one or more under-represented communities including BIPOC, LGBTQ2S+, Mature Students (30+), Newcomers to Canada (within the last 5 years), Students from Refugee Pathways, Students with disabilities, Female-identifying or non-binary persons studying STEM, those living in remote rural locations, or those from low socioeconomic backgrounds. The award provides 228 awards of $300 each. Students in practicum placements located 60 kilometers or more round trip from their residence may also apply for an additional travel subsidy. Applications must be submitted online through the Red Deer Polytechnic scholarship portal, with deadlines dependent upon individual practicum dates.
