About this opportunity
The Adam Redfern Memorial Scholarship has been established to support final year students with a flair for media, journalism and sport at De Montfort University (DMU), giving them the opportunity to make the most out of their time before they go on to fulfil their career ambitions. The £3,000 scholarship is in memory of much-loved DMU colleague, Journalism alumnus and fitness enthusiast, Adam Redfern, who died suddenly of a heart attack while out jogging in March 2021, aged 28. The successful applicant should display similar characteristics to Adam - a willingness to embrace student life to the full, be a positive influence on their peers and be someone who enhances the University's reputation in the city via their external interaction with partners and other third-parties. Adam was described as "the best of DMU in one person" - during his undergraduate years, he immersed himself in student life while still achieving a First class degree, was heavily involved with Demon Media, engaged regularly with the University's partners including Leicester City F.C. and Leicester Tigers, and represented DMU Men's Football Club.
