About this opportunity

The Advocacy Education Scholarship provides financial support for a school nurse to participate in an advocacy education program. The scholarship was originally named The NASN Advocacy Education Award in honor of Sally Williams, NASN's first President (1970-71), who worked tirelessly to convince the National Education Association to address the unique needs and contributions of school nurses. Her vision was to bring school nurses together with a common voice and goal in speaking out on legislative issues that impacted school health. Recipients receive up to $1,500 in scholarship funds, paid in two installments: 50% upon announcement at the annual conference and 50% upon completion of the advocacy action program and submission of an advocacy action plan. Additionally, recipients receive complimentary registration to the NASN annual conference during the award year. The scholarship must be used for advocacy education completed within one year of receiving the award.
