About this opportunity
The Association for Industrial Archaeology offers restoration grants to support the preservation and restoration of industrial heritage sites, structures, machinery, and artifacts. Since 2009, the scheme has allocated nearly £1,500,000 thanks to anonymous donors. The grants are divided into two categories: Major Projects with grants up to £30,000 (where the AIA grant must represent at least 20% of total project costs), and Small Projects with grants up to £10,000 (where total project cost, excluding volunteer labor, must not exceed £12,500). The grants support a wide range of industrial heritage including canal structures, railway buildings and equipment, vessels, mills, mining equipment, furnaces, and various industrial machinery. Projects must involve significant capital works allied to volunteer input and demonstrate real impact from the AIA funding.
