About This Opportunity

The Ailsa and Professor Ross Hawker Scholarship is part of the Aspire Scholarship Program at The University of Queensland. This scholarship supports commencing domestic undergraduate students who can demonstrate significant financial disadvantage. Donated by the Hawker Foundation in honour of Ailsa and Professor Ross Hawker, this scholarship recognizes Professor Hawker's distinguished 25-year leadership of the Department of Physiology at UQ, his publication of over 50 books, and his ground-breaking research career that was made possible through a scholarship he received in 1938. The scholarship aims to provide opportunities for students facing financial hardship to pursue their higher education goals, just as Professor Hawker was able to do. Ailsa Hawker was his lifelong partner in research, travel, and artistic pursuits. This scholarship honors their contributions and seeks to help another student make a difference in the world.
