AIRY Litteratur Västernorrland

Artist in Residence Västernorrland (AIRY) is a residency program inviting nationally and internationally active writers and authors to Hola folkhögskola in Västernorrland, Sweden. The residency is specifically aimed at published working-class authors in all literary genres including prose, poetry, essays, graphic novels, and biography. The program provides a four-week residency in September 2025 at Hola folkhögskola in Ångermanland, one of Sweden's oldest folk high schools founded in 1896, now a creative environment for those working in literature, music, sound art and visual arts. The school is located in Prästmon by the Ångermanälven river, close to the High Coast World Heritage site, in an area with several cultural sites connected to Swedish industrial history and a rich tradition of working-class authors. The residency provides an opportunity for authors to focus on their writing without any requirement to produce specific work during the stay. Residents are expected to participate in at least one event with other AIRY resident artists, meet participants of the folk high school's writing course, and write a short text (max two A4 pages) about their stay.
