AJS Contingent Faculty and Independent Scholar Research Grants

The Association for Jewish Studies offers Contingent Faculty and Independent Scholar Research Grants to support scholars in Jewish Studies who lack guaranteed institutional funding. These $1,000 research grants are designed to assist current AJS members holding a PhD with research-related expenses. Research funds may be used to support travel to archives or libraries or to pay for childcare while conducting research, among other eligible expenses. The research associated with this grant must be completed by December 31, 2026, and recipients are required to submit a completion report. The program specifically targets contingent faculty and independent scholars who face financial barriers to conducting research in Jewish Studies.
