About this opportunity
The Alan Bishop Scholarship was established in 2011 by Mrs Christine Bishop (BA '68; LLB '71; BSc '98) in memory of her husband, His Honour Alan Bishop (BA '60; LLB '64). This undergraduate scholarship supports students in their final year of a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) at the University of Sydney.
The scholarship is awarded on the basis of academic merit and a personal statement demonstrating leadership skills, communication skills, personal interests, community engagement, relevant work experience, and reasons for pursuing a career in law and how they intend to utilise their degree to make a positive contribution to society. Shortlisted applicants may be invited to attend an interview either in-person or online.
The scholarship provides up to $8,000 paid as a one-off payment after the first relevant census date after award. Recipients must be Australian citizens or permanent residents enrolled full-time in their final year of a Bachelor of Laws with a minimum weighted average mark of 75. The scholarship value may be shared if more than one recipient is awarded the scholarship in any given round.
