About This Opportunity

The Alan Plumtree Graduate Scholarship is awarded annually to a full-time graduate student at the University of Waterloo registered in the Faculty of Engineering, specifically in Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of scholastic excellence (minimum 80% average) and a demonstrated interest in the field, with preference given to students whose research area is engineering materials and Fluid Mechanics with excellence in research through hands-on applications. Recipients must hold an Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) or a Queen Elizabeth II Graduate Scholarship in Science and Technology (QEII GSST). The combined scholarship aims to provide up to $20,000 in value: $5,000 from the endowment income, matched 2:1 ($10,000) by OGS or QEII-GSST funding, with an additional $5,000 top-up from the University of Waterloo. This amount is in addition to minimum funding requirements. If the match or enhancement becomes unavailable or a suitable recipient cannot be found, the funds will be paid out as a regular graduate scholarship. This scholarship was established through a donation from Dr. Alan Plumtree.
