About this opportunity
This scholarship will be granted to two students, one in the third year of study and one in the fourth year of study in the Faculty of Business in the accounting specialization program who intends to pursue a CPA designation. The scholarships will be awarded to students who demonstrate a passion for the subject, a strong academic work ethic, and financial need. This scholarship is created by family and friends in honour of Albert "Ab" M. Ferris (1939-2020), as a gift to remember his contributions to his family, his community, his work in the field of chartered accounting and to his training of accounting students at UPEI. Ab Ferris has always been a strong advocate for the accounting profession. He taught at the post-secondary level for 40 years, demonstrated a true love of the practice, supported every student he touched and encouraged many to achieve excellence in the field as a result of his guidance. In 27 years of teaching accounting at UPEI - he also taught the subject in Poland for seven years and for stints in Bermuda, Alberta and Montana - Ab sought out the trust, respect and even friendship of his students.
