ALECOSTA: Alemania-Costa Rica

Based on an agreement between CONARE and the DAAD, university lecturers from four Costa Rican universities (Universidad de Costa Rica, Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica, Universidad Nacional, Universidad Estatal a Distancia, and Universidad Técnica Nacional) receive funding to obtain further qualifications in Germany with scholarships for Master's and doctoral degrees. The scholarships are awarded for one year initially, with applications for extensions examined by the DAAD Selection Committee. The program supports academic staff development through advanced degree programs in Germany, fostering academic exchange between Germany and Costa Rica. The scholarship provides comprehensive support including monthly scholarship payments from Costa Rican partners, travel allowances from DAAD (if not granted by the Costa Rican university), initial language courses in Germany (up to 6 months for Master's and doctoral candidates including accommodation and pocket money) or language courses during studies, health and insurance coverage for scholarship holders and accompanying family members, one-year research and study grants, printing costs subsidies for doctoral students, and German language course costs for accompanying spouses when applicable. The funding duration ranges from 24 to 48 months, supporting both Master's and doctoral degree programs in Germany.
