About this opportunity
The Alexander Rutherford Scholarship recognizes and rewards academic achievement of senior high school students and encourages them to pursue post-secondary studies. Named in honour of Alberta's first Premier and Minister of Education, Alexander Rutherford, who was known for his strong support of public education, this scholarship is awarded to students who meet specific academic criteria based on their high school performance. The scholarship provides financial support to students transitioning from high school to post-secondary education, with award amounts varying based on the grade level and academic average achieved. Students can receive amounts ranging from $300 to $1,300 per grade level (Grades 10, 11, and 12), with a maximum total award of $2,500. The scholarship requires students to complete designated courses including English or Français, plus specific core and elective courses at each grade level. Recipients must be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate post-secondary program or apprenticeship program and meet residency and citizenship requirements for Alberta.
