Alfried Krupp Fellowships
About This Opportunity
The Alfried Krupp Wissenschaftskolleg Greifswald awards up to 6 Alfried Krupp Senior Fellowships and up to 8 Alfried Krupp Junior Fellowships annually. The Alfried Krupp Wissenschaftskolleg Greifswald is an independent academic institution founded in 2002 by the Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach Foundation together with the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and the University of Greifswald. The Alfried Krupp Fellows Programme, established in 2007, enables fellows to concentrate on a major scientific project independently of teaching commitments and administrative tasks. The Senior Fellowships are for outstanding academic personalities with a proven track record in research and teaching, while Junior Fellowships are awarded to particularly qualified young researchers with a doctorate. For the academic year 2026/27, the Kolleg focuses on interdisciplinary research into the Baltic Sea region - from culture to ecology, though applications from other research areas are also welcome. The fellowships are endowed according to the high expectations of the applicants' academic achievements. Living and working space is available to fellows at the Alfried Krupp Wissenschaftskolleg free of charge. Fellows are appointed for one semester (6 months) or for one academic year (12 months). It is expected that fellows will pursue a major research project during their stay, live at the Kolleg, and establish their center of life there. The application should demonstrate how the planned project will strengthen the University of Greifswald's research priorities and contribute to the promotion of science and research in Greifswald.
