About this opportunity
The Allan Blakeney Entrance Scholarship is a competitive entrance award valued at $5,000 annually for incoming students at the University of Saskatchewan. Named after Allan Blakeney, who served as Premier of Saskatchewan from 1971-1982 and was a public servant for 28 years, this scholarship recognizes academic excellence combined with demonstrated interest and contributions to government and public service activities.
Eligible students must be Saskatchewan residents who demonstrate not only strong academic achievement but also aptitude for activities related to society's institutions of government and public service. This includes participation in student government, debating clubs, youth parliaments, United Nations youth forums, and similar civic engagement activities.
The scholarship is awarded through the University of Saskatchewan's Competitive Entrance Awards application process. One scholarship is available annually, and the application deadline is March 1. This award honors the legacy of public service exemplified by Allan Blakeney and aims to support future leaders committed to civic engagement and democratic institutions.
