ALTA Scholarship

The ALTA Scholarship is a needs-based scholarship program offered by the Assistance League of the Triangle Area. The program provides financial assistance to students pursuing post-secondary education or technical training at non-profit institutions in North Carolina. Scholarships are awarded to residents of Wake, Durham, or Orange counties who demonstrate financial need through the FAFSA application process. The scholarship program awards between $1,000 and $7,500 per student, with funds sent directly to the educational institution to cover tuition and other educational expenses. The program is designed to help students access higher education, with scholarship amounts potentially covering most or all expenses at junior colleges. The Assistance League notes that they are volunteers transforming the lives of women, children, and families through community programs. Applicants must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 and provide comprehensive documentation including transcripts, FAFSA forms, income tax information, and letters of reference. The selection process includes application evaluation and may include interviews at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee. Recipients are notified by May 1, and funds are available for summer and/or fall semesters.
