Altamont Lions Club/Ernie C. Ballard Scholarship

The Altamont Lions Club/Ernie C. Ballard Scholarship is awarded to Biology majors from Effingham County with an interest in conservation or environmental sciences. The scholarship requires recipients to maintain a 2.5 GPA and demonstrate financial need. Preference is given to incoming freshmen from any Effingham County High School who have been accepted to Eastern Illinois University, though current students may also be considered if no suitable incoming freshman is found. Recipients must demonstrate successful leadership and positive moral character regarding civic and extracurricular student activities. This award is announced in the Spring and awarded the following Fall semester, providing financial support for students pursuing biological sciences with a focus on environmental conservation.
