About this opportunity
The Alvin and Kathleen Bothner Entrance Bursary in Science is offered annually to an undergraduate student entering first year in the Faculty of Science at the University of Calgary. This bursary was established by Mr. Alvin Bothner in memory of his beloved wife Kathleen, who devoted her career to education, with a matching grant from alumni of the Faculty of Science.
The award recognizes both academic merit and demonstrated financial need. Preference is given to students who are graduates of rural high schools in Alberta or Saskatchewan. Applicants must be Canadian citizens or Permanent Residents.
The bursary provides financial support up to $1,600 to help deserving first-year science students begin their university education. One award is available each year. Students must apply through the My UCalgary Portal High School Awards application system.
