About This Opportunity

The AIS Scholarship program provides financial support to undergraduate Native American and Alaska Native students attending accredited colleges and universities in the United States. The program aims to help eligible students maintain enrollment and graduate by allocating scholarship funds directly to their educational institutions. Awards are need-based and determined for the specific term the student is applying for. To be eligible, applicants must be enrolled members of a U.S. Federally Recognized American Indian or Alaska Native Tribe/Entity, or direct descendants of a base roll member. Students must be pursuing their first bachelor's degree with no more than 150 semester credits or 210 quarter credits, maintaining a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.25 after their first term, and enrolled at least part-time (minimum 6 credits per term). Completion of the Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is also required. The program operates on two annual award cycles: a September Award for the Fall semester (applications open May 1, deadline July 1) and a January Award for the Winter/Spring semester (applications open September 1, deadline November 1). Applicants must submit required documents including a recent photo, proof of tribal heritage, an essay, statement of fees/cost of attendance, and current transcript. If approved, students are required to submit a thank you letter before funds are disbursed.
