AMS Student Research Grants

The American Microscopical Society (AMS) Student Research Grants support summer research projects involving microscopy for undergraduate and graduate students. Grant awards are up to $1,000 per recipient. The program is designed to facilitate research that specifically employs microscopic approaches and techniques. Any undergraduate or graduate student member of AMS who has not previously received a Student Research Grant is eligible to apply. The funds can be used for fees, supplies, use of equipment, and travel to research sites, though travel to meetings and publication costs are not supported. Applications require a detailed three-page project proposal with specific sections including introduction, objectives, methods, significance of expected results, and literature citations, along with a one-page budget justification and two-page CV. A letter of support from the student's research advisor is also required.
