Andrew Basnett Fund

The Andrew Basnett Fund is a memorial fund that honors the legacy of blacksmith and art metal worker Andrew Basnett by inspiring and supporting the next generation of artisans in blacksmithing. The fund provides multiple forms of support to develop blacksmithing talent in Herefordshire, including funding the annual Andrew Basnett Blacksmith Masterclass held at Hereford College of Arts, providing bursaries to students on the Blacksmith MA course at Hereford College of Arts who are in particular need, and offering discretionary grants to other initiatives and individuals focused on developing the craft of blacksmithing. Applications are considered on an annual basis and will not be accepted from statutory bodies or organizations based outside Herefordshire unless specifically supporting projects within the county. The average grant award in 2024-25 was £3,000.
