About this opportunity
The Andrew Hyslop and Barbara Zinter Award for Lifeguarding is a scholarship for graduating Grade 12 students planning to pursue post-secondary education in Canada. This award recognizes students who demonstrate financial need and a strong commitment to community involvement and lifesaving/lifeguarding activities. Applicants must have completed Lifesaving Society Bronze, National Lifeguard, or Lifesaving/Lifeguarding Instructor courses and must submit a brief written statement describing their involvement in and commitment to lifeguarding. Selection is based on the applicant's statement, volunteerism and community involvement, and demonstrated financial need. The award is tenable at Calgary Board of Education and Calgary Catholic School District schools only. One award is available annually, with recipients selected and notified by September. To claim the award, recipients must be registered in an eligible program of postsecondary study in Canada within one year of notification, with payments made directly to the post-secondary institution.
