About this opportunity
The Ann & Girard Tillery Scholarship was created to honor the legacy of Ann and Girard Tillery, whose mothers were both educators. Understanding the profound impact of a good education on one's success in life, the Tillerys agreed that providing educational assistance would be their goal. This scholarship, established after Girard's untimely death in 2010, focuses on providing opportunities for individuals with financial need to empower themselves through higher education.
The scholarship awards up to $20,000 over four years ($5,000 per year) to students pursuing 2- or 4-year degrees at any public or private college or university. Recipients must maintain good academic standing and submit semester reports to continue receiving funding each year. The scholarship may be used towards any need listed under the school's total cost of attendance.
Eligible students must have a minimum GPA of 2.5, be permanently living or attending school in Wake County, and plan to attend school full time. A key criterion is household income at or below 150% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, which honors the donor's intent to support students with demonstrated financial need. This scholarship is part of Triangle Community Foundation's universal online application system, where students complete both the universal application and individual scholarship questions.
