About this opportunity
The Annie Currie Scholarship provides a cash grant of $10,000 for learners studying towards a health-related degree at Ara Institute of Canterbury. The objective of this scholarship is to recognise and encourage learners through their final year(s) of a degree. This annual scholarship is awarded to one recipient who demonstrates academic excellence and financial hardship.
Annie Currie had a joy for life that is rare. She adored anything that looked like an adventure and her delight in life infected many of the people she encountered. Annie passed away in October 2021 aged 71 after a long illness. She willed that her resources should be left to helping young women to educate themselves.
Eligible programmes include Bachelor of Applied Science (Health Promotion), Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Nutrition), Bachelor of Medical Imaging, Bachelor of Midwifery, Bachelor of Musculoskeletal Health, and Bachelor of Nursing. The scholarship is specifically for women who are New Zealand citizens or permanent residents studying full-time at Ara Institute of Canterbury in Christchurch or Timaru. Applicants must have completed at least one year of tertiary education with a B+ average in a health-related programme.
