About this opportunity
The APSA Advancing Research Grants for Indigenous Politics supports political science and Indigenous Politics scholars, faculty, students, and practitioners whose scholarship focuses on indigenous politics and political science. The program awards grants to support innovative research that centers indigeneity-related theories and concepts or practitioner-informed theories within political science scholarship. Research areas must focus on Indigenous Studies, Indigenous Political Science, Sovereignty, Tribal Governance, or Native Studies. Qualitative, quantitative, interpretive, mixed methodological, political philosophy, and theory approaches are welcome, as are collaboratively-authored projects. Funds can be used to support access to data or archival records, paying undergraduate or graduate student research assistants, purchasing statistical software, manuscript preparation costs, travel for fieldwork or research site visits, and professional development activities such as skills or methods training acquisition. The program especially encourages applications from American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian individuals. Projects must be completed by December 31, 2026.
