APSA Diversity Fellowship Program (DFP)

The APSA Diversity Fellowship Program (DFP) is a prestigious fellowship program designed to support underrepresented students pursuing doctoral degrees in political science. Each fall, the program awards between 12 and 14 funded fellowships in the amount of $5,000 over two years to students applying to doctoral programs in political science. Each spring, the program offers fellowships to graduate students in the pre-dissertation stage of their doctoral program, providing a one-time award of $2,000, depending on funding availability. Since its inception, the APSA Diversity Fellowship Program has designated more than 600 fellows and contributed to the successful completion of doctoral political science programs for over 100 individuals. The program celebrated 50 years of scholar support in 2019. Participation in APSA Diversity and Inclusion Programs is open to all interested individuals without regard to any characteristic protected by applicable law, though applicants must satisfy any relevant program-specific criteria.
