About this opportunity

The ARA Group Indigenous Scholarship provides financial support to undergraduate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students studying at the University of Sydney in science, engineering or architecture, design and planning. The scholarship offers $20,500 per year for up to 5 years, including an annual cash payment of $8,500 and tuition fee coverage up to $12,000 per year. Established in 2024 and funded by ARA Group Limited, the scholarship aims to support Indigenous students throughout their undergraduate studies. Recipients must maintain a minimum Semester Average Mark (SAM) of 50 each semester to continue receiving the scholarship. The award covers the full published duration of the recipient's undergraduate degree, whether single or combined, for a maximum of 5 years full-time study or part-time equivalent. Part-time students receive 50% of the full-time cash payment if enrolled in less than 18 credit points in a semester. The scholarship is awarded based on a personal statement detailing how the scholarship will support the applicant's degree and any financial hardship circumstances. Preference is given to applicants who can demonstrate financial hardship. The selection committee includes the Deputy Vice Chancellor - Indigenous Strategy and Services, Associate Dean of Indigenous Strategy and Services, Director of Gadigal Centre, and a Gadigal Centre Advancement Officer, with at least half the committee being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander persons.
