About this opportunity
This scholarship aims to provide financial assistance to a PhD student who is undertaking research that includes people with disability and/or disaster risk reduction research targeting whole of community approaches including people with disability and other high-risk groups (e.g., people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds). The scholarship is supported by an ARC Linkage Project entitled 'Disaster risk reduction practices that leave nobody behind'. The research should focus on the needs of people with disability in situations of natural hazards and other emergencies, covering topics such as the capabilities and support needs of people with disability and their carers in emergency situations, the role of community and healthcare providers in disability-inclusive disaster risk reduction, and the contributions of emergency management and government organizations in disaster risk management across the disaster management cycle (preparedness, response, recovery phases).
